Leland "Lee" Tessen, Town of Vandenbroek, age 89, died Monday, April 20, 2015 at his home. He was born in Hortonville on July 29, 1925 to the late Alfred and Viola (Knaack) Tessen. Lee served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946 during WWII and was a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258 for over 50 years. He married Rita Schuh in Freedom on June 19, 1947. Lee worked as a pipe fitter at Kimberly Clark and also worked as a painter. Lee enjoyed travelling with friends. He also loved to tend to his flowers, especially his roses.
Lee is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rita; son, Kenneth; brother, Leonard (Audrey) Tessen; and brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Judy) Schuh, Theadore (Shirley) Schuh, Cecelia (Joe) Smet, Virginia Martin and Jerry Smith. He is further survived by 5 Godchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his son, David; Rita's parents, Fred and Catherine Schuh; brother, Harold (Lois) Tessen; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard (Betty) Schuh, Harold (Pat) Schuh, Joe Martin and Delores Smith.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 23, 2015 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev.
