Lawrence John Birling, known by family and friends as Larry, was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend – peacefully passed away in his sleep at home in Menasha, WI on April 29, 2024.

Larry was born on July 8, 1948. Larry attended high school at St. Mary Catholic High School in Menasha, WI. After high school, Larry worked his entire career at the Neenah Foundry as a laborer, Team Lead and Supervisor.

Larry met his wife, Julianne Kay Birling in 1966 and were married several years later on August 15, 1970. Soon after, they welcomed their first child Charles into the world. In short work, had a daughter Angie. Larry's daughter Brenda, rounded out the Birling family of five.

Through the years, Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, fixing cars, riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with his family and friends. He loved visiting Boulder Lake and spending time in the Nicolet National Forest.

His love for fast cars, race spectating, auto repair skills, and lead foot combined to become a love affair with auto racing. In the summers, he would be seen often at the local race track either down in the pits or spectating watching his friends race in different events. If he wasn't at the track, he was in his garage tuning and repairing his Chevy Impala. During the long Wisconsin winters, he often spoke about looking forward to the summer, getting his Impala out of the garage and getting back to the race track.

Being a grandpa came naturally to Larry. Along with the funny stories and jokes, his grandkids loved his warm heart, sincerity and welcoming personality.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Julianne, his son Charles (Liane) Birling; his two sisters Nancy and Diane; his brother Mike; six grandchildren, Aidan, Wyatt, Maya, Hannah, Elijah and Tyrell.

A celebration of life will be held at Lake Park Pub on May 18, 2024 from 2:00-6:00 p.m
