Her sweet angels gently picked her up and brought her home. Thank you Jesus for giving her to us.
Laverne M. VandenHeuvel, Little Chute, age 84, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at St. Paul Elder Services surrounded by her family. She was born in Combined Locks on March 15, 1932 to the late Edward and Hattie Kamps. Laverne married Paul G. "Petie" VandenHeuvel at St. Paul Parish in Combined Locks on October 25, 1954. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2011. Laverne worked as a legal secretary at Van Hoof Law Offices for more than 60 years until her retirement in 2011. Education was very important to Laverne and she served as President of the Little Chute School Board for 28 years. Laverne enjoyed reading while sitting in the sun and making soups of any kind. She also loved doing laundry, referring to it as "therapy".
Laverne is survived by her children: Dick (Sheila), Richfield; Dan (Maureen), Combined Locks; Dean (Vicki), Chandler, AZ, Paula, Phoenix, AZ, and Jill Knodl, Germantown, grandchildren: Paul, Emily and Maddie Nichols, Sydney and Justin Knodl, Casey (Nicole) Fox, Adam (Angela), Ariana, Kyra, Sabrina, Katie (Ben Apodaca) VandenHeuvel, Matt and Sam VandenHeuvel, great grandchildren: Gabriella, Jack and Carter, and brothers and sisters-in-law: Delores Machurick, Donna (Bob) Welch, Ken VandenHeuvel, Barbara (Mike) Kons, Jane VandenHeuvel, Noreen VandenHeuvel and Yvonne Rusk.
In addition to her parents and husband, Petie, Laverne was preceded in death by her sister, Charlotte Helf; infant brother, Richard; father and mother-in-law, Peter and Dora VandenHeuvel; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Anne, Lloyd, Jerome, Gene, Clarence (Ursula) VandenHeuvel and Mike Machurick.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 19, 2016 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 3:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. Ronald Belitz will officiate. Committal St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
Laverne's family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul Elder Services, especially those on Poppy Path, for their love and care.
