Obituary

Lana Rae Otradovec, age 58, of Little Chute, passed away at home on Saturday, August 17, 2024, with grace, courage, and family by her side. She stayed true to herself until the very end. Born in Appleton, WI, on July 3, 1966, she was the beloved daughter of Orville and Rose Marie (Fernandez) Otradovec.

Lana was the cornerstone and strength of the family, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was devoted to caring for her parents and great-nephew, Tyrone, as well as anyone else who needed a helping hand. She always made sure her mom and Tyrone had everything they needed and drove them everywhere. Lana also took great care in maintaining their home, always clearing the drive of snow, cutting the lawn, and tending to the household needs. An amazing daughter and caregiver—endlessly kind, generous, and faithful, family was always at the center of her heart.

Lana was known for her quick wit and ability to speak her mind with honesty and love. Playful humor and straightforward nature made her beloved and unforgettable. She loved music, coffee, and shared many moments of joy and laughter with everyone she knew.

A great listener and warm, loving soul, Lana will be deeply missed by many who confided in her. She will be remembered for her jovial laugh, irresistible giggle, and unwavering support for everyone in her life.

Lana had a deep love and dedication for those with Autism and special needs. She gave time and care both personally and professionally, devoting herself to her work at Agape, the College of Menominee Nation, and The Community Blood Center, leaving a lasting impact through remarkable commitment.

As a proud member of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin, Lana embraced her culture and heritage with deep pride. With incredible strength and courage, she faced life's challenges head-on, inspiring everyone around her with her resilience. An angel on earth, although Lana received her heavenly wings too soon, her loving spirit will continue to shine brightly in all our hearts.

Our family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported us during Lana's journey. A special thank you to Dustin and Steve, nurses at UW Health University Hospital, for their compassionate care; to the UW Palliative Care Team whose dedication made the impossible possible, getting Lana home. We sincerely thank Dr. Bret Benally Thompson for treating Lana with dignity and humanity. Our appreciation also goes to Hartland Hospice for their tender care. Finally, a special thank you to Taylor and Sierra Skenandore for their heroic and loving end-of-life care for Lana, making her last moments filled with love and support. Your kindness and dedication will never be forgotten.

Lana is survived by her mother, Rose Marie; her siblings: Laurie (Michael) Holtz, Joann (Tonya) Wilderman, Brenda (Dennis) Woroszylo, and Tracy (Joey) Skenandore; her nieces and nephews: Shane, Carrie, Melissa, Amanda, Nyssa, Elizabeth, Sky, Sloan, Scott, Stephanie, Taylor, and Sierra; and her precious great-nieces and nephews: Tyrone, Elena, Reece, Jett, Sage, R.J., and Zander. She is also survived by many other loved great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and co-workers.

Lana was preceded in death by her father, Orville Otradovec; and her sister, Linda Fernandez.

A visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main Street, Little Chute) from 3:00 p.m. until the memorial prayer service at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated.
