Kenneth P. "Red" Ver Voort, Combined Locks, age 83, died Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Cherry Meadows Hospice. He was born in Little Chute on August 2, 1932 to the late Peter and Ida (Van Schindel) Ver Voort. Kenneth married Donna Tobey on October 9, 1965 at St. Mary's Parish in Menasha. Red was an Army veteran. He retired from Repap in 1996 after 43 years of service. Red enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers, TimberRattlers and Badgers. He also enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas and Laughlin, NV and more recently, his Wednesday Poker games in Green Bay. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, including playing games and watching them in sports.
Red is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna; children: Jill (Vernon) Karweick of Black Creek; Lisa (Terry) Matlock of Omaha, NE; and Gail Ver Voort of Little Chute; grandchildren: Brianna, Garret, and Kelcie Karweick, Kailee and Brady Matlock; brother-in-law: Richard Sanderfoot; and sister-in-law: Charlene Tobey. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law: Anton and Agnes Tobey; and sisters and brothers-in-law: Mary Jane (Robert) Hartjes, Jule (Richard) Wippich, Ruby Sanderfoot and Tom Tobey.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 5, 2016 at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St. Combined Locks) beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 12:00 Noon. The Rev. Andrew Kysely will officiate. Committal St. Paul Cemetery.
Red's family would like to thank Dr. Joyce Bauer and Dr. William Guenther, Nancy and Jen and staff at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology, the staff at Atrium Post Acute Care in Little Chute, and the staff of ThedaCare at Home Hospice and Cherry Meadows for the wonderful care he received.
