Kenneth T.
Thompson
January 24, 1939 – October 20, 2023
Ken Thompson (Pilot) peacefully left this earth on October 20, 2023 at his residence in Kaukauna. Ken was born on January 24, 1939 to Esther Thesen and Oscar Thompson in Valders, WI. He was the oungest of six children and was preceded in death by all including his nephew Tom Hulin.
Surviving Ken, his best friend, partner and confidant of 35 years, Ginny. She had been the love of his life, caring for him through his illness and respecting his wishes to pass away at home. She was there until the end, comforting him.
Also surviving, his niece Joni Haule (Tom) of Las Vegas, NV.
Ken had a passion for aviation all of his life. After receiving his pilot's license, he was hired as the 2nd pilot for Air Wisconsin Airlines in 1965. He rose to rank of Captain, retiring in 1999. Ken thoroughly enjoyed his career as a pilot, especially flying the Bae 146 Jet.
He was a proud member of the group of 12 original pilots for Air Wisconsin, known as the "Dirty Dozen".
Ken enjoyed many years of boating at the Appleton Yacht club, especially with his Manitowoc friends, Rich, Kay & John. He also enjoyed downhill skiing.
He was also proud of his Norwegian Heritage and enjoyed having a couple of "cold ones" and socializing.
Per his wishes, there will be no service. Entombment has taken place at Highland Memorial in Appleton, WI. Memorials may be made in Ken's name to charity of your choice.
Many thanks to Compassus Hospice and Home Instead. And a very special thank you to his lifelong and loyal friend Larry Siefert.
Fly High - Ken - Fly High, until we meet again, Love Ginny
