Kathryn Nelson, Little Chute, age 91, died Tuesday August 31, 2010 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born in Milwaukee on December 19, 1918 to the late John and Katrina (Apazeller) Binsack. Kathryn married Richard G. Nelson in Milwaukee in 1955. He preceded her in death in 1992. Kathryn was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church and the Jacob Coppus American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to knit and contributed baby hats to Appleton Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Hospital. She also knitted afghans for the Martha Siekman Cancer Center. Kathryn was also a member of the Ladies Craft Group at the Kimberly Community Center. She was an avid Packer and Badger fan.
Kathryn is survived by her son, Bob (Dorothy) Nelson of Appleton; and grandchildren: Abby (John) Fritz and their newborn daughter Eliza Jane of Allouez; and Grant Nelson of Bloomington, MN. She is further survived by nieces and nephews; her phone buddies, Donna and Lottie; and especially her dear Taylor Street neighbors who she loved visiting with on her front porch throughout the summer.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kathryn was preceded in death by her brothers: John (Caroline), Steve (Olive), George (Charlotte) and Adam Binsack.
Visitation will be held at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) Friday September 3, 2010 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen will officiate. Committal Highland Memorial.
The family would like to thank Barb and Tom Elliott for the love and care given to Kathryn throughout the years. Also thank you to the Gold Cross Paramedics, Fox Valley Metro Police Department and the emergency staff at Appleton Medical Center.
