Neuman
February 21, 2025
Kathleen E. Neuman (nee Niesen, Marquardt, Lambert), age 84, departed this earthly life on February 21, 2025. Kathy was born in Kaukauna on June 2, 1940, to the late Herbert and Adeline (Eiting) Niesen. She attended Holy Cross Grade School and graduated from Kaukauna High School before later attending Alverno College in Milwaukee, after which she began her family and working career.
Kathy had a longstanding career with the State of Wisconsin, working in unemployment compensation and becoming an expert in both state and federal UC administration. After her retirement, she was invited to return for special projects, including Y2K preparations and disaster support. Notably, she spent 18 months in Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina, where she supervised federal emergency unemployment processing for those affected by the disaster.
In addition to her career, Kathy held many part-time jobs and owned several businesses, including the Bridgeway Drive-In in Little Chute with her then-husband Mike.
Outside of work, Kathy was passionate about music and participated in various choirs. She was also actively involved with many charitable organizations, dedicating her time to give back to the communities she lived in. Some of her favorite causes included the Golden Retriever Rescue of Wisconsin, Welcoming Willows, the Knights of Columbus, and Holy Cross Church.
After retirement, Kathy traveled extensively with her husband, Sam. They enjoyed exploring the country in their motorhome and meeting wonderful people along the way.
Kathy is survived by her children: Arthur (Anne) Marquardt and Susan (Tom) Nitzband; her stepchildren: Maria Gorski, Paul Neuman, and Brad Lambert; as well as her grandchildren: Isaiah Gorski, Mike Nitzband, Tyler Nitzband, Alan Marquardt, Andrew Marquardt, Amy Marquardt, Michael Neuman Jr., Dominic Compton, Sebastian Neuman, and Hope Le Mieux. She is also survived by her siblings: Jim (Diane) Niesen, Virginia Holbrook, Eileen (Pete) Gossen, and Jodi (Ken) Schott, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her husbands, Samuel Neuman and Jerry "Mike" Lambert; and her sisters: Carol Mandel, Mary Jo Gellerman, and Barbara Braun.
Visitation for Kathy will be held at HOLY CROSS PARISH (309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna) beginning at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until 10:45 a.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. David McElroy, O. Praem with the Rev. Luke Ferris concelebrating. Committal services will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
