Karen (Hostettler) Schuh, Little Chute, age 76, passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at St. Paul Elder Services. She was born on November 3, 1944 to the late Robert and Mildred (Parker) Hostettler. Karen grew up in Kaukauna. She attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1963. Karen married the love of her life on November 30, 1963, Tony Schuh from Freedom. They resided in Little Chute most of their life. Together, they raised three wonderful children. After raising their family, Karen worked for 22 years at Gordy's Food Fair and Pick 'N Save.
She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her hobbies were reading, camping, movies, and traveling. Karen and Tony traveled through most of the United States, Spain, and Ireland. Her favorite place on earth was Branson, MO. They traveled there many times. Her favorite singers were Elvis and Danny O'Donnell. She was known for her famous potato salad that was everyone's favorite.
Karen is survived by her husband of 57 years, Tony; daughters: Paula (Bill) Heckert, Little Chute and Diane Schuh, Freedom; son, Mark Schuh, Little Chute; grandchildren: Michael (Christina) Brochtrup, Kimberly (Mark) Lachapell, Alan Heckert, and Amanda (fiancé Tyler Merkes) Heckert; step granddaughter, Isabella Thurk; great grandchildren: Hailey, Katheryn and Mya Brochtrup; brothers: Gary and James Hostettler; sisters-in-law: Betty Schumacher (Fred) Luetschwager, Kathy Schuh-Ries, Carol (Pat) Heenan, Bernie Wege, Marrianne (Jon) Blakeslee, Linda Schuh and Sandee Schuh; and brothers-in-law: Gene (Carol), Bill (Mary Lou), Carl (Peg), Leo (Barb), Ray (Joyce), and Hank (Voni) Schuh, and Don Vanevenhoven. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her newborn great granddaughter, Mickenzie Brochtrup; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Matt (Janet), Gordy, and Joanne Schuh and Donna Vanevenhoven.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main Street, Little Chute) beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time of Funeral at 5:00 p.m. Karen's family respectfully requests those in attendance to please wear a mask and observe social distancing protocols.
The family would like to thank all of the people that have helped Karen medically throughout her life: Dr. David Lenz and staff, Pat and Lori; Drs. James Kuplic and Brad Borgen and staff; Dr. Qureshi and staff; Dr. Vallatharaser and staff at ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center; Cary Luitjens and staff at Advanced Physical Therapy; all the excellent doctors and workers at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton; Dr. Todd Smith, Chiropractor; and all the good people at St. Paul Elder Services and Hospice. Karen always appreciated the kind and compassionate care she received.
