This love of watching the moon and stars followed her to the end. The friends, a roaring fire in the backyard fire pit, and a jug of wine made a perfect night. Life on Pearl Street then was lots of fun.

God did a lovely thing last night
when all the world was still and cool.
He filled the sky with stars so bright
they dripped into a garden pool.
The moon, a crescent, bathed in gold
He hung far out into the sky;
And tipped it so its point would hold
A steady gleam if the winds passed by.
He took a dear old lady's hands
And led her up the milky way,
Beyond the lights of northern lands,
Around the tinted rainbow-way.
And when, they reached the land of June,
He put the light out of the moon.
