Obituary

Jude Kiley, Appleton, age 74, died with her family at her side on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 due to complications from vascular dementia. She was born in Shawano on January 1, 1942 to the late Ben and Eva (Peterson) Thorne. Jude married Thomas Kiley on November 17, 1962 in Neenah.

Jude is survived by her husband of 53 years, Thomas; daughters: Kristine (Jeff) Alarie of the Town of Vinland and Kerri (Mark) Koerner of Greenville; grandson, Matthew Koerner; siblings: Joy (Doug) Stern and Dan (Rose) Thorne; and sisters and brothers-in- law: Ellen (Bill) Lappen, Pat (Mary), Mike (Patricia), and Terry (Terri) Kiley.

In addition to her parents, Jude was preceded in death by her son, Tommy; Tom's parents, Bill and Dorothy Kiley; and brother-in- law, John Kiley.

Jude worked for years in the cafeteria at St. Elizabeth hospital. She was the much-loved cashier who knew everybody's name. Jude had a great sense of humor and her deep, genuine laugh was enjoyed by family and friends — especially while sitting around the fire pit with her favorite "craft" beer (Blatz, Red, White and Blue, Lowenbrau…). She laughed hardest and longest at a good joke and a quality fart. Even to the end. Although not a regular attendee of a church, her faith was important to her. She grew up Baptist, professed her faith in Jesus Christ, and always taught us to treat the Bible with the utmost respect.

In celebration of Jude, there will be a remembrance gathering on Sunday, July 31st at 1 pm at Alicia Park in Appleton. Please bring your best memories of Jude and/or a 6-pack of some "quality" crap beer to share. Food will be provided. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. To sign the guest book, please visit oconnellfh.com.

Special thanks to: Affinity Hospice, the awesome and hardworking staff at The Bridges of Appleton, loving caregivers and companions to Jude; Kerri Koerner and Jackie Warzyn. And then there is her husband Tom. It's hard to imagine a Tom without a Jude. Tom's act of love in the years he sacrificed as her loving and personal caregiver was an example to us all. Thank you dad — Kristine and Kerri.
