Obituary

Judith Ann "Judy" Geerts, Little Chute, age 82, died peacefully with her family at her side, on Thursday, April 6, 2023.  She was born in Kaukauna on January 18, 1941, to the late Henry and Violet (Boettcher) Siebers.  Judy married the love of her life, Thomas (Giz) Geerts, at Holy Name Church in Kimberly on July 8, 1961.  They shared 62 beautiful years of marriage together. Judy grew up in Kimberly where she attended Holy Name Grade School. At the age of 14, she attended Wheaton Franciscan Sisters High School in Illinois for 2 years, and then, following the plan God had for her, finished her last years of education at Kimberly High School where she met Giz her junior year.

Judy worked at Aid Association for Lutherans (Thrivent) for 18 years, until her retirement in 2002.  She was a long-time member of St. John Nepomucene Parish in Little Chute where she volunteered in the office and at funeral luncheons, served as a Eucharistic Minister, taught Religious Education and helped on Hot Dog Days at St. John School with her daughters, where she loved seeing her grandchildren during the school day.   She also volunteered as a voting poll worker in the Little Chute community for many years.

Judy started scrapbooking with a few of her closest friends, Linda, Ann, Barb and Wendy, and it became a hobby that she lovingly shared with her daughters and granddaughters.  Judy enjoyed playing bingo with Giz, her sister, Sharon, and brother, Stank. She loved trips to the casino, her many card clubs, golfing with family, friends, and her Mid-Vallee ladies' golf league. She always looked forward to family weekends in Door County every Fall with Giz, her children and their spouses, and wintering with Giz in Orange Beach, Alabama for 18 years.  As an avid supporter, she rarely missed an athletic event of her sons or grandchildren. Most of all, it was the times she could spend being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Judy is survived by her husband of 62 years, Tom (Giz). Together they were blessed with 5 children:  Kelly (Haini) Ufi, Little Chute; Todd (Jackie Thompson) Geerts, Oshkosh; Tracy (Kevin) Calmes, Appleton; Craig Geerts, Appleton; and Mary (Joe) Kovach, Green Bay; 12 precious grandchildren:  Lucas (Lavi) Ufi, Sarina (Tommy) Randazzo, Dominic Ufi, Peyton (Cody) Erickson, Paige (Josey) Dorn, McKenzie Calmes, Olivia Calmes, Kali (Luke) Schroeder, Megan Geerts, Jadon Geerts, Elizabeth (Jordan) Karsten, and Danielle Griese; and 5 amazing great grandchildren:  Ofa Judith, Israel, Violet, Augustus, Emery, Jack, Elle, and was happily anticipating the arrival of 3 more; siblings:  Jim "Honk" (Judy) Siebers, Dick "Stank" (Ruth) Siebers, and Sharon (Don) Thiede; and brothers and sisters-in-law:  Carol Siebers, Jim Geerts, and Mike (Karen) Geerts.  She was also blessed with and further survived by loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who she treasured spending time with.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Siebers; sister-in-law, Lynne Geerts; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter and Margaret Geerts; and her favorite furry friend, Rudy.

Judy was cared for with love and compassion by many dedicated doctors, nurses and medical professionals throughout her journey. Toni and Jackie from the ThedaCare Regional Cancer Center in Appleton always made her feel special and cared for. She trusted Dr. Laura Michaelis from Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee with her care, and a relationship that began as doctor-patient grew into a beautiful friendship based on mutual respect and love. Judy's family will be forever grateful for Dr. Michaelis who always treated her with dignity and honesty.
