Joseph L.
Zierler
April 1, 1959 – December 21, 2021
Joseph L. Zierler, Kaukauna, passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the age of 62 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Kaukauna on April 1, 1959 to the late Louis and Shirley (Munes) Zierler. Joe married Mary Huss on May 20, 1983 at Holy Cross Parish. He worked at James River Mill/Graphic Packaging for 40 years until their closure and finished out his career with two years at Bemis Manufacturing.
Joe was a genuine person that was loved by all. He was always good for a funny story or quick remark. Joe loved to golf, hunt, fish, and play Sheephead. He cherished time with his grandkids and loved spending time up north at the family cottage. He spent most of the past few summers there with his family and friends. Trips to Mexico and Alaskan fly-ins with friends were also times he greatly enjoyed.
Joe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary; children: Laura (Brady) Propson of Kaukauna and Michael; grandchildren: Colton and Caden Propson; siblings: Sue (Jim) Vanderloop, John (Nona) Zierler, Paul (Kim) Zierler, and Mark (Shelley) Zierler; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Dennis (Cindy) Kroes, Carl (Kathy) Kroes, Dave (Irene) Kroes, Cal Kroes, and Doug (Kathy) Huss. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Sylvester and Ethel (Schmitz) Huss; and cousin, Al Zierler.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 27, 2021 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH – ST. MARY CHURCH (119 W. 7 th Street, Kaukauna) beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Everts officiating. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Greg Johnson; the team at ThedaCare Cancer Center, especially Dr. Starr and Physician's Assistant Kristen; and his hospice nurse Amber.
