Obituary

Joseph John Weyenberg, Jr., 84, of Kaukauna, WI passed away October 31, 2026, at home with his family by his side after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born February 26, 1942, to the late Joseph, Sr., and Margaret (Muthig) Weyenberg.

Joe graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1961. After high school, Joe was in the Navy and served for a short time. He was discharged due to an illness. Joe then was a mechanic and co-owner of a Sinclair gas station in Kaukauna. In 1963, Joe was employed at Appleton Papers Combined Locks Mill, where he worked until retiring in 2002.

On July 29, 1967, he married Charlotte Rose VanDyke at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna. Together, they had three children. Joe loved to take his family camping and enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Lakewood. He enjoyed fishing with his family and Friday night fish fries. He also enjoyed taking his family on day trips. Joe’s interests included watching the Packers, following NASCAR, and knitting and donating hats to people in need. His greatest passion was spending time outside. You could always find him on his lawn tractor, tending to his garden, or tinkering on engines in his shed. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Joe is survived by his children Kelly (Robert) Ashley, Daniel Weyenberg, Christina (Peter) Nelson; sisters Diane Dietzen, Kay (Jerry) Luckow; sister-in-law Patricia VanDyke; brothers-in-law Jim Eichhorst and Bob Brogan; grandchildren Nicholas Ashley, Joshua (Emily) Ashley, Kaleasha (Michael) West, Alaina Hartjes (partner Sydney Reinhard), Macy Hartjes, Luke Hartjes, Amelya Nelson, Clara Nelson, and Frances Nelson, honorary granddaughter Sylvia Vanderloop; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte; his parents Joseph Sr. and Margaret Weyenberg; father and mother-in-law Edwin and Dorothy VanDyke; sister Patricia Eichhorst; sisters-in-law Judy VanDyke; Jeanie Corbin, and Janice Brogan; brothers-in-law George Alders, Fran Dietzen, Ed VanDyke, Jr., Donald VanDyke, and Charles Corbin.

A private family celebration of life will be held.

The family would like to thank the wonderful hospice staff that cared for dad, especially Aleena and Ida.
