John L. Mereness, Kaukauna, age 69, died Saturday, January 15, 2022 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton.  He was born in Appleton on August 30, 1952 to the late Russell and Joan (Hendricks) Mereness.  John was a loving caregiver and best friend to his brother, Russell.  He was always there for his family or anyone else who needed a helping hand.  He was an awesome brother and a good friend to those who knew him.  John was a dedicated Security Guard who really liked his job and the people he worked with.  John was a huge Green Bay Packer, Wisconsin Badger, and Milwaukee Brewers fan.

John is survived by his siblings:  Barbara Vanden Heuvel, Joseph Mereness, and Merri Bowser; brother-in-law, Edward Rathsack; nephews:  Brian, Scott, Bruce, Derek, and Kyle; nieces:  Lori, Vicki, Anna, and Sara; great nephews:  Jason, Ryan, Kevin, Diamond, Parker, Caden, Paxton, Austin, and Jaxon; great nieces:  Keri, Katelyn, Breanna, and Samantha; and great great nephew, Jackson.  His dear brother Russell who lived with him died the day after John.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his siblings:  Diane Rathsack and Robert Mereness; and brother-in-law, Jack Vanden Heuvel.

A memorial service will be held in John's honor at a later date.

John, we know you will want to keep looking after Russell, but maybe it is time for him to look after you!
