Obituary

John R. Lewis, age 78, died Sunday, April 13, 2025, in Neenah. John was born on November 7, 1946, to the late Richard William and Mary Lou (Robb) Lewis, in Detroit, Michigan. He married the love of his life, Jenny Fryar, in Michigan City, Indiana, on June 22, 1974. Following his time serving in the United States Marine Corps, John made a career out of his passion for photography. Graduating from the Brooks Institute of Photography, he went on to open his own photography business, specializing in portraits, commercial, and location photography. Outside of this, John was a very active man, enjoying traveling and vacationing with family, cycling, and scuba diving. He loved to read history especially, listening to music, photography outside of work, and took on many coaching/mentoring positions throughout his life. Above all, John cherished his family and friends, and the memories he made with them.

John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jenny; his children: Nathan (Stacy) Lewis, of Menasha; Alicia (Nate) Hall, of Duluth, MN; Graham Lewis, of San Francisco, CA; and Karen (Steve) Pearson, of Chandler, AZ; and his grandchildren: Taylor (Zoee) Lewis, Logan Lewis, Aidan Lewis, Violet Hall, Sam Pearson, and Matt Pearson. He is further survived by his siblings: Ginny (Gary) Estep, of Sun City, AZ; and Ted (Nancy) Lewis, of Peoria, AZ; his brother-in-law, Harold Fryar, of Michigan City, IN; and his nieces and nephews: Jason (Kaylie) Snee, Stacey Snee, Corey (Erwin) Lewis, and Casey (Matt) Brand; along with other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his parents-in-law Kenneth and Mary (Cris) Fryar, his sister-in-law, Joanna Fryar-Carlisle, and nephew, Tyler Fryar.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The Lewis family kindly requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association in John's name, or a memorial of your choosing.
