_{Beloved husband, father, grandpa (Paw-Paw), great grandpa, brother-in-law, uncle and friend passed away on January 11, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.}

_{After a long successful career in the transportation industry, John retired as an executive from Consolidated Freightways in 1997. John and Judy then followed their dreams and moved to Georgia and bought a Bed and Breakfast in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains. Together they ran the oldest operating Inn in Georgia, The Yorkhouse, until 2001. They wanted to be closer to family so moved to Sister Bay and bought the Woodenheart Inn. In January 2014 they retired and moved to Combined Locks where they enjoyed precious times with family and friends.}

_{John is survived by his wife, Judy (nee Beck); children: Amy J. (Brian) Lucareli of Racine; Beth A. (Michael) Wirtz of Holly Springs, NC; and Nicholas D. Hurlburt of Middle Village, NY; grandchildren: Allison (Jake) Thomas, Sarah and Ben Lucareli, Ryan and Andrew Rooney, Carly, Megan and Sawyer Wirtz; great grandson, Leo James Thomas; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Joann Beck, Dave (Betty) Beck, LeRoy (Barb) Beck, Mary Jane (Brad) Miller and Jackie (Brian) Borchardt. He is further survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.}
