John P. Hopfensperger, Sherwood, age 78, died at his home on Sunday, May 30, 2021.  He was born in Darboy on July 21, 1942 to the late Earl and Mary (Striegl) Hopfensperger.  He married Lyn Renkens on February 19, 1981.  Together, they owned and operated the Granary Supper Club in Sherwood.  John enjoyed tractor pulls, traveling, watching the Packers, casino trips, boating, and farming.

John is survived by his children:  Judy (Jim) Thomas, Suwanee, GA; Donna (Rick) Merckx, Appleton; Ken (Andrea) Van Rossum, Menasha; Brian (Mary) Hopfensperger, Cumming, GA; Kris (Brian) Seidl, Combined Locks; Kim (Denise Brandow) Van Rossum, Sherwood; and John (Julie) Hopfensperger, Stevens Point; grandchildren:  Kaylee (Bill) Nytes, Jeff (Ally) Thomas, Karissa (Kurt) Fenn, Kevin (Krista) Nieuwenhuis, Adam Ashauer, Jake (Nicole) Thomas, Erik (Kara) Hopfensperger, Melissa Hopfensperger, Dana Seidl, Jenna (Josh) Thomas, Tyler Van Rossum, Carter Van Rossum, Kendra Van Rossum, Jaxson Hopfensperger, Jordy Hopfensperger, and Jace Hopfensperger; great grandchildren:  Grayson, Lilly, Bella, Adelyn, Hadlee, Brooks, and Brady; siblings:  Ralph (Sue) Hopfensperger, Sue (Kurt) Weyers, Marilyn (Al) Portman; and brothers and sisters-in-law:  Jim Steger, Dan Vanevenhoven, Jack Renkens, Sue (Russ) Rhode, and Jim (Deb) Renkens.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Lyn; her parents, Jack and Leona Renkens; sisters:  Martha Vanevenhoven and Gerri Steger.

A private family funeral will be held.  He will be buried at Holy Angels Cemetery in Darboy.

Dad had a very good life until Lyn passed.  He had a very hard time living without her.  We find peace knowing they are together again.
