Johanna C. "Anja" Baars, Combined Locks, age 65, died Tuesday April 2, 2013 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born August 1, 1947 in Maren, NB, Holland to the late Dominicus and Petranella (Van Lith) Vander Wielen. Anja served in the Women's Army Corp from 1965-1966 and was a member of the Combined Locks Women's Auxiliary 10544. She married Tony Baars at Holy Name Parish on June 29, 1968. Anja worked at the Kimberly and Neenah branches of Associated Bank until her retirement in 2010. She was a member of St. Paul Parish where she loved singing with the choir. Anja also enjoyed traveling, crafting and volunteering at the St. Paul Home.
Anja is survived by her husband of 44 years, Tony; her children: Anja (Matt) Andres, Wrightstown; and Yolanda (Bret) Gerrits, Kaukauna; grandchildren: Shelby (and friend Stephen Schnurer) and Blake Andres, Bryce and Travis Gerrits; sister: Cathie Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law: Theo, Annie and Jo (Dita) Baars; and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Anja was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Cor, Piet (Nel) and Zus Baars.
Visitation will be held Saturday April 6, 2013 at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St. Combined Locks) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Andrew Kysely will officiate. Committal at St. Paul Cemetery. A memorial is being established.
