Jesus "Jesse" Torres, age 65, of Appleton, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 with his family by his side. Jesse was born on September 10, 1947 in Seguin, TX to the late Louis and Isabel (Villanueva) Torres. On February 25, 1972, he married the love of his life, Maria Frances (Banda) Torres of Shiocton, WI.
Jesse is survived by his beautiful wife Maria, their 5 children: Corinna (William IV) VanOfferen, Appleton; Geneva (Richard) Franzke, Appleton; Reuben J.Torres, LaCrosse, WI; Gerald B. Torres, College Park, MD; Angela (Nathaniel) VanDeraa, Appleton; his most adored 7 grandchildren: Sascha, Geneva, Bella, Gavin, Isaac, Ezra and Zoe Jane; siblings: Pablo (Sandy) Cruz, Andres (Martha) Cruz, Johnny (Bonnie) Cruz, Isadora (Juan) Gonzales, Mary (Rudolfo) Juarez, Louis (Patricia) Torres, Cruz (Sal) Licona, Juan Torres, Julia (Jose) Jasso and Celestina (Daniel) Drugan.
Jesse served in the Army from 1967-1969. He worked as a Millwright for many years at Clearwater Paper in Neenah. Jesse was a hard worker, loving provider and spiritual leader for his family.
Jesse loved the outdoors and going on drives with his wife into the country. He enjoyed gardening, sports and cooking for his wife, children and grandchildren. He also cherished Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services at Calvary Chapel Appleton where he joyfully served and fellowshipped with his church family. Most especially Jesse loved sharing the Gospel and the love of Christ with his family, friends and acquaintances, living his life as a testimony to what his Savior did for him.
Visitation will be held Saturday May 25, 2013 at CALVARY CHAPEL (2136 E. Newberry St. Appleton) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dwight Douville officiating. Committal Riverside Cemetery. To sign the guest book, please visit oconnellfh.com.
