May 28, 1939 – June 4, 2021
Jerry Hildeman, of Appleton, age 82, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Friday, June 4, 2021. He was born in Clintonville, WI on May 28, 1939 to the late Arthur and Almeda (Dearth) Hildeman. Jerry graduated from Clintonville High School in 1957 and joined the Army. Because of his trombone talents, he was selected to serve in the 83 rd Army Band serving in Straubing, Germany. He also attended the Navy School of Music in Washington D.C.
Jerry married Barbara Berndt in 1961. They were blessed with a great son, James. Jerry and Barbara were inseparable, always together, and sharing a special bond. Their love for each other always showed. God blessed them with 60 wonderful years together.
He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Appleton for 34 years. Over the years, Jerry loved serving his church in various capacities. He was a devout Christian, proud to live like the Christian he was never missing a day reading his bible and talking to his Lord.
Jerry was a kind, caring, and loving man who was very proud of being Pa Pa to his grandchildren: Sarah (Jon) Mc Elroy (great grandchildren, Maxwell and Keenan - the joy of his life), Matthew (Amanda) Hildeman, Nathan (Livi) Hildeman, and Rachel (Sean Garvin) Hildeman; special lifelong "like family" friends, Ardeen Schultz, Jerry and Mina Lindow, and Mary Finch.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Almeda; father and mother-in-law, Elmer and Tillie Berndt; daughter-in-law, Judy Hildeman; and special friends: Dennis Schultz and Sam Finch.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021 at ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH (N2740 French Road, Appleton) beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. His Funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Fleming officiating.
