Obituary

Janice Wians, of Kaukauna, age 80, died Thursday April 26, 2012 at St. Paul Home. She was born March 19, 1932 in Rio Creek, WI to the late Edward and Irma (Schneider) Kirchman. Jan married Melvin Wians on November 22, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church in Rankin, WI. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always looking forward to seeing them. After retirement, Jan and Mel traveled the U.S. visiting friends and relatives along the way and also enjoyed golfing with their many friends and family at home. In her last years she learned to knit, making scarves, dishcloths and potholders which she gave to her kids, grandkids and friends, a pastime she truly enjoyed. Jan taught her favorite song, "You are my Sunshine" to her children, grandchildren and even some of her great-grandchildren. This song is still sung by all of them.

Jan is survived by her husband of 61years, Melvin; children: Sandra (Michael) Walch, DePere; Nancy (Wayne) Owen, Neenah; Tom (friend Theresa Harvey) Wians, Iron Mountain, MI; grandchildren: Heather (Tyler) Hutchison, Christopher (Dawn) Nelson, Holly (Tyler) Michalkiewicz, Jenna (fiance Jason) Nelson, Amanda Wood, Amanda (Bob) Tripp, Jessica (fiance Scott) Wians, Angela Wians and Nicole (Doug) Moore; 11 great-grandchildren; brother: Dale (Betty) Kirchman; and sisters-in-law: Alice (Gene) Krautkramer, Joyce Wians, Gloria Qualman and Caroline Wians. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her granddaughter Hope; father and mother-in-law: Rev. E.A. and Frieda Wians; and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Monday April 30, 2012 at BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH (124 W. 10th St. Kaukauna) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the funeral at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Levi Willms will officiate. Committal Highland Memorial.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Bethany Lutheran Church Parking Lot Fund or your favorite charity in Jan's name.

A special thank you to Dr. Goggins, the two Julie's, Ellen, Sandy, Karen and Margie from St. Paul Hospice, who were very helpful to Jan during this difficult time. Also, thank you to the nurses and other staff members form St. Paul Home who took care of Jan's needs during her short stay.

Mom, Grandma and Great-Grandma – You will always be the Sunshine in our lives and hearts.

Jan – God gave us 61 wonderful years together and I will truly miss you. I'll offer a toast to you on our 62nd anniversary.
