January 12, 1945 – January 20, 2022
James P. Vanderloop, Combined Locks, age 77, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, January 20, 2022. He was born in Kaukauna on January 12, 1945 to the late Norbert and Helen (Klister) Vanderloop. Jim served as an MP in the U.S. Army. Jim will be remembered as a very hard worker. He worked in construction, built silos, and owned numerous bars (Rivers Edge in Kaukauna, Dog Patch in Dundas, Pussy Cat Lounge in Oshkosh). Jim's wheels were always turning and as a result, he was a master inventor. He had a good heart that always saw the best and believed in others. His greatest joy was his family and he treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his longtime companion and partner, Marge Zimmerman; daughter, Michelle "Shelly" (Leon) VanDeraa of Kaukauna; Marge's children: Daryl, Dave, and Debi Zimmerman; grandchildren: Sabrina (Alex) Boro, Brittney (Troy) VanAsten, Matthew (Cierra) Johnson; Amanda, Michael, Christopher, Corey, Stephen, Bradley, and Amber; Leah, Tony, T.J., and Andrew; Bobbi and Jonathan; great grandchildren: Moreh-Biyn, Adaiah, Revecca, Elizabeth, Josephine, Crystal, Nathan, Mason, Abby, and one due in May; siblings: Joyce Denzel and Dennis (Char) Vanderloop; sisters-in-law: Marian and Sandy Vanderloop; and his beloved cat, Sam. He is further survived by close friends: Si Schmidt, Jim Vosters, Bobby Gerrits, and Sue Vowell; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers: Norman, Anthony, and Donald Vanderloop; brother-in-law, Vince Denzel; and members of Marge's family.
Visitation will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main Street, Little Chute) beginning at 3:00 p.m. until time of Funeral at 6:00 p.m. with the Rev. John Sitcler officiating. Military honors, conducted by the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319 and American Legion Post 41, will immediately follow. To sign the guest book, please visit oconnellfh.com.
