James
Puls
November 8, 1944 – November 6, 2024
James Wilbert Puls, age 79, of Hollandtown passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on November 6, 2024. His 5-month battle with cancer ended just two days before his 80th birthday.
Jim was born on November 8, 1944, in West Union, Iowa, the son of Wilbert and Christine (Strickhouser) Puls. After graduating from West Central High School, Maynard, Iowa in 1963, Jim went on to attend Kansas City Diesel Tech and joined the Army Reserves. Throughout his life, Jim enjoyed working with his hands. His mechanical skills started on the family farm and continued into heavy equipment, cranes, and diesel trucks. He was an experienced welder, fabricator, and body man. After moving to Wisconsin in 1979, he opened Puls Motor Co. in Hilbert and lived out his dream of being his own boss. Always trying to stay busy, dad enjoyed restoring old tractors, helping his sons with remodeling projects and building playsets for his grandkids. Jim married Sue Altmann on September 7, 2002, in an outdoor ceremony at their home in Hollandtown, Wisconsin. After retirement from L&S Truck Center in Appleton, Jim enjoyed relaxing at home, mowing his lawn, and camping with his wife, Sue, and his hunting buddies.
Jim will be deeply missed by his wife Sue; sons: Dave (Michelle), Scott (Julie), Bryan (Amy), and Shaun (Sarah) Puls, and step-sons Mike (Amber) Altmann and Ben Altmann; his grandchildren: Ella, Brady, Makenna, Bryce, Janessa, Gretchen (fiancé Conrad Haeni), Moira, Caden, Lucas, and Aubrey Puls; his siblings: Judy Zupke, John Puls and Jerry (Faye) Puls. Jim is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by both of his parents, Wilbert and Christine, his in-laws, and a granddaughter Emma Puls. All of whom welcomed him at the gates of heaven.
Visitation will be held at O'Connell Funeral Home (1776 E. Main Street, Little Chute) on November 30, 2024, at 10am followed by a Memorial Service/Celebration of Life at 11am.
The family would like to thank the 7th Floor nurses at Theda Care Appleton, the staff of Theda Care Regional Cancer Center and Theda Care's Hospice Team, all of whom took such loving care of dad.
Since dad was always more of a tree person, please consider planting a tree in his name rather than sending flowers.
