September 6, 1938 – February 12, 2018
James Kenneth Lund, age 79, of Freedom, went peacefully to his heavenly home on February 12, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 6, 1938 to the late Edwin and Gertrude (Schuhmacher) Lund, in New London, WI. Jim was confirmed in 1952 from Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London, WI. He graduated from New London High School. On June 14, 1958, Jim married the love of his life, Darla Jean Mentzel, at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London. They were sweethearts since 8 th grade and enjoyed 59 wonderful years of marriage before her passing on August 21, 2017. Jim was a very loving and generous husband, dad, grandpa and friend. After high school graduation, Jim served in the Army and Army Reserves for 8 years. He was employed at Neenah Paper. He then worked at Thilmany Pulp and Paper as a Millwright and then a Maintenance Supervisor, retiring after 39 years of dedicated service.
Even though Jim worked many, many hours, he was very dedicated to his children and never missed a game or school event. He coached Little League baseball and was an umpire for several years. He was the charter member of the Apple Creek Snow Ryders and held numerous officer positions with the club. He enjoyed being "the" pit crew for Stan Riska Racing.
Jim was a devout Christian, dedicating many years as an usher at St Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, more specifically as the head usher for "early church." Jim also sat on the church council for many terms.
After retirement, he and Darla spent endless hours traveling to their grandchildren's events, giving them love and support. Jim loved camping, golfing, playing cribbage, making the rounds to sign in and visit with friends. But most importantly, he loved doing anything that brought the whole family together.
Jim is survived by his children Rick (Shelly) Lund of Florence; Debbie (Frank) Reimer of Freedom; Cindy (Neal) Roebke of Wautoma; 13 grandchildren: Craig Koehler (fiancee Jessica Lee), Rikki-Ann Lund, Tracy Koehler (boyfriend Cage Bible), Lance (Brittany) Lund, Bryce (Deena) Lund, KayCee (Zach) Carobine; Frank D Reimer, Amy (Kyle) McMahon, Jared Reimer (girlfriend Madison Malcore), Jordan Reimer (fiancee Ashleigh VanEperen); Corey (Christie) Roebke, Tyler (Annie) Roebke, Coty (Brooke) Roebke; his 11, soon to be 12 great-grandchildren: Chace Lund; Riley, Robyn Chiamulera; Noah, Kaydence, Ella, Baby Roebke; Addison, Maya Roebke; Landon, Carter, Alexia McMahon.
