James G.
Ebben
June 17, 1957 – January 25, 2022
James Gerard "Jim" Ebben, Kaukauna, age 64, died Tuesday January 25, 2022 at his home. He was born June 17, 1957 in the City of Kaukauna, Wisconsin to Willard and Helen (Joyce) Ebben. Jim was the third of six children. Jim earned a Bachelor's degree in 1979 from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in Washington, D.C. His interest in government started early when he was awarded the opportunity to serve as a Senate Page for United States Senator William Proxmire while he was a junior in high school. As a Page, Jim worked on the floor of the U.S. Senate and witnessed the political process firsthand. He interacted daily with some of the nation's most prominent political leaders including current U.S. President Joe Biden. Jim went on to work in the real estate title insurance industry for many years, a role in which he excelled. An accomplished and lifelong artist, Jim was prolific early in his career working with silk screening and woodcut printing winning honors and recognition for his work. Later, he turned his artistic focus to photography, capturing scenes of nature at dawn, dusk, and the turn of the seasons.
Creative and caring, with a fun-loving sense of humor, Jim possessed all the good looks in the family. He enjoyed many happy days at the family cottage swimming across Lake Hilbert where he found the inspiration for much of his photography. With a steadfast dedication to family, he treasured spending time with his niece and nephews, always offering encouraging support for their latest endeavors. He was instrumental in providing the care and support of both his parents in their advanced years. A trip to discover the ancestral home of his great, great grandfather in Ireland was a highpoint of his many travels. Jim's loving kindness to all who knew him brightened each day and his devoted commitment to family will be fondly remembered.
Jim is survived by his siblings: Patti Ebben, Appleton, WI; Jack Ebben, Stoddard, WI; Maureen Ebben and husband Jeff Klatt, Portland, ME and their children Elizabeth, Austin, TX and Stephen, Boston, MA; and Katie (Park) Drescher, Middleton, WI and their children John, New York, NY and William, Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Daniel J. Ebben, and brother Joseph.

A final thought he leaves with family and friends:
When tomorrow starts without me
And I'm not here to see
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
Are filled with tears for me
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today
While thinking of the many things
We didn't get to say
I know how much you love me
As much as I love you
And each time you think of me
I know you'll miss me too
But when tomorrow starts without me
Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand
She said my place was ready
In Heaven far above
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love
But when I walked through Heaven's gate
I felt so much at home
When God looked down and smiled at me
From His great golden throne
He said this is eternity
And all I promised you
Today your life on earth is past
But here it starts anew
I promise no tomorrow
For today will always last
And since each day's the same way
There's no longing for the past
So when tomorrow starts without me
Don't think we're far apart
For every time you think of me
I'm right here in your heart
