Jacqueline Ann Hughes, age 81, passed away at her home early morning March 29, 2023 in the loving arms of her husband. She was born January 15, 1942 to the late Melvin and Lexie (Schuenemann) Van Asten. She married Patrick Hughes in 1960 and raised 6 wonderful children. Jackie was a very caring and nurturing mother, who always made expressing her love for family a priority. Her hobbies included: cross stitching, sewing, reading, cooking, gardening and quality time with her family. Every holiday and birthday became a special and memorable event.
Jackie is survived by Pat, her husband of 62 years. Her children: Daniel (Mary) Hughes, Linda (Richard) Geurts, Brenda Hughes, Catherine (Rick) Wood, Michelle Hughes, and Todd Hughes. She is further survived by 12 Grandchildren: Danny (Jessie) Hughes Jr., Crystal Hughes, Charlene (Nelson) Davis, Ryan Hughes, Trisha Hughes, Amanda (Nick) Lessor, James (Arianna) McCroy, Christopher Hughes, David (Rachel) Head, Travis (Cheyenne) Wood, Raechyl (fiancé Eric) Hughes, and Nikki (Beau) Baumgartner. She is additionally survived by her 24 great grandchildren, who called her by her favorite name, GG. She courageously hung to life in hope of seeing her 25 th great grandchild, who is due in April. Jackie is also survived by her brother, Charles (Sandi) Van Asten and her brother Butch's bride, Vicki Van Asten; as well as her in-laws: Dick (Jill) Hughes, Bill (Jan) Hughes, and Sally (Jim) Hohnberger.
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her brother, Butch Van Asten; and her brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Jane Hughes.
Visitation for Jackie will be held Tuesday April 4, 2023 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURH (411 Vandenbroek St. Little Chute) beginning at 9:00 A.M. until time of the funeral at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Ronald Belitz officiating. Lunch will be held following mass, and burial will be held at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton.
