Jack G. De Valk, Combined Locks, age 81, died Thursday August 26, 2010 at Rennes Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born in Combined Locks on May 19, 1929 to the late John and Mary (Kamps) De Valk. Jack married Barbara Vils on February 3, 1951. He started in his profession building homes with his father. Jack was then employed at Hoffman Co. from 1952-1981 and P.G. Miron Corp. from 1982 until his retirement in 1990. He worked as the superintendent in the building of the Valley Fair Mall. Jack enjoyed spending time and fishing at his cottage in Pickerel. He could always be counted on to help family and friends with home projects. Jack loved to spend time with his grandchildren and always was ready with a bowl of ice cream.
Jack is survived by his children: Dennis (Linda), Little Chute; Dawn (Pat) Deschaine, Sherwood; William "Mick" (Cindy), Little Chute; Deb (Mike) Cudahy, Francis Creek; Doug (Cindy), Kaukauna; Dale (Pamela), Combined Locks; Donna (Todd) Hurst, Little Chute; Dane (Linda), Combined Locks; and Darci (Rich) Van Veghel, Freedom; grandchildren: Tracie (Mark) Polomis, Angela (Eric) Markwald, Christine (Mitch) Nabbefeld, Ryan (fiancée Kelsey Lieb) Nechodom, Troy, Trevor and Erin Hurst, Tara, Abbie (fiancée Todd Champeau), Emily, Alissa, Nicole, Bethany, Craig, Amber, Tyler, Renee and Erica De Valk, Luke, Paige and Faith Van Veghel; great grandchildren: Dakota and Dalton Polomis, D.J. and Brycen De Valk, Jameson Milhaupt and Baby Nabbefeld; siblings: Don (Coritta), Bob, Lyle (Julie), Mary Pat (Tom) Roovers and Tom (Mary Ellen); sisters and brothers-in-law: Carol De Valk, Shirley Quella, June Biechler, Lois (Mike) Rohe and Mike Swointek; close friend, Nancy Haas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara in 1999; grandson, Eric De Valk; brother, Leroy De Valk; father and mother-in-law: Bill and Estelle Vils; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Helen De Valk, Judy Swiontek and Clem Quella.
Visitation will be held at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St. Combined Locks) on Monday August 30, 2010 beginning at 2:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. James Lucas will officiate. Committal Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Kaukauna.
Jack's family would like to thank special friends Nancy Haas and Derek Van Deurzen for their numerous visits, the staff at Rennes, Renaissance and Theda Care at Home Hospice for the compassionate care given to him.
