Helen R. Wendt, Freedom, age 85, died Monday May 18, 2015 at Country Villa Assisted Living. She was born in Iron Mountain, MI on February 16, 1930 to the late Walter and Fannie (Hodgson) Friestrom. Helen married Donald J. Wendt on July 16, 1949 at Sacred Heart Parish in Appleton. She lived for her family, taking great pride in her 5 children and spoiling her grandchildren. Helen also enjoyed sewing, shopping and going to the casino with her sister-in-law, Virginia.
Helen is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald; children: James (Sue) Wendt, Appleton; Debra (Joseph) Konkle, Freedom; Cindy (Jeff) Jansen, Seymour; and Steve (Lisa) Wendt, Seymour; grandchildren: Sarah (Nathan) Baxa, Angie and Brennan Wendt, Tara (Dan) Van Hoof, Justin (Michelle), Craig (Jesse) and Garrett Konkle, TJ (Justine) and Dan (Bethany) Brown, Wendy (Nathan) Cropsey, Courtney and Heather Wendt; great grandchildren: Rylan, Avery, Dakota, Alexandra, Grayce, Izabella, Izaiah, Maggie, Abigail, Connor, Leah and Baby Brown (child of Dan and Bethany) due in November; sister: Bette (Merton) Cooney; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Virginia Lewin, Edward (Marlene) Wendt and Richard Wendt. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her son Tom Wendt; sisters: Jean Weiss and Edith Lux; brothers: Roy, Robert and Gerald Friestrom; brothers and sisters-in-law: Arthur Wendt, Helen Ely, Earl Wendt, Ethel Roovers and Dorothy Vanden Boogard.
Visitation will be held Saturday July 11, 2015 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St. Little Chute) beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of Funeral at 12:00 Noon.
Helen's family would like to thank the incredible staff at Country Villa in Freedom, especially Sandra and Tina, and Mary from Theda Care at Home Hospice for the exceptional care they gave her.
