Obituary

Helen C. Lamers, Kaukauna, age 89, died peacefully on Tuesday December 17, 2013 at American Grand Assisted Living. She was born January 10, 1924, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Klein) Haen. On July 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to Paul P. Lamers in a double ceremony with Norbert and Lucina Schmidt, Helen's younger sister. They celebrated 63 years together before Paul passed away on October 13, 2008. Together they successfully owned and operated a dairy farm near Kaukauna.

Helen was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna, sang in the Queen of Peace Choir and was a communion distributor. She also enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, playing cards, casino trips and spending time with friends and family. Her face always lit up when she received a visit from a grandchild or great grandchild. Her deep faith continues to be an example for all her relatives and friends.

Helen is survived by seven children: Robert (Joyce) Lamers, Greenleaf; Lois (Gene) Ver Voort, Little Chute; Kathy (Steve) Romenesko, Freedom; Gary (Brad Wright) Lamers, Palm Springs, CA; Cindy (Gary) Anderson, Kaukauna; Mark (Lynn) Lamers, Kaukauna; and Paul Jr. (Patty) Lamers, Kaukauna. There are 17 grandchildren: Amy (Scott) Alexander, Robert (Melinda) Lamers, Craig (Tammy) Lamers, Brian (Toni) Ver Voort, Kelly Averill, Jeff (Lisa) Ver Voort, Leann (Craig) Vosters, Jeneen (fiance Justin Mackey) Romenesko, Andrea Romenesko, Jackie (Nick) Bladow, Becky (Adam) Stapel, Eric (Tiffany) Lamers, Jodi (Dan) Hacker, Leah (Eric) Welhouse, Jenny, Andy and Emily Lamers. There are also 28 great grandchildren with 2 being adopted in 2014. Helen is also survived by siblings: Irene Kempen and Bob (Frances) Haen; sister and brothers-in-law: Pat (Fred) Haen-Schuette and Cyril Klister; Paul's relatives: Mary Nackers, Rose (Francis) Schmidt, Emily Vander Wyst, Marilyn Lamers and Helen (Vanderloop) Lamers. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her grandson, Luke Romenesko; siblings: Rita (Richard) Hartzheim, Victor (Ethel) Haen, Leo (Gladys) Haen, Martha Klister, Lucina (Norbert) Schmidt and Jack Haen; and brother-in-law: Merlin Kempen. She was also preceded in death by her husband's family: Richard (Anna) Lamers, Gordon (Mary) Lamers, Lyle (Ellen) Lamers, Ruby (Bob Turiff) Van Handel, Ves (Jane) Vosters, Gene (Delia) Lamers, Gerald Nackers, Gordon Vander Wyst and Marcel Lamers.

Visitation will be held on Monday December 23, 2013 at HOLY CROSS PARISH (309 Desnoyer St. Kaukauna) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 12:00 Noon. The Rev. Thomas Pomeroy will officiate. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery. To sign the guest book, please visit oconnellfh.com.
