Harvey H. Van Deraa, age 93, of Kimberly, died Thursday, November 4, 2021, in Appleton, WI. Harvey was born in Little Chute on December 28, 1927, to the late John and Bertha (Kortz) Van Deraa. He married Irene Harriet Kemps on November 21, 1950, at Holy Name Church in Kimberly. Harvey served in the Army and was a member of the William Verhagen American Legion Post 60. He finished his career as a foreman at the old Kimberly-Clark mill in Kimberly for the cutters until his retirement in 1989. He was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on the Cubs, Brewers and Packers. Harvey also enjoyed playing cards, making trips to the casino, and hunting.
Harvey is survived by his wife of almost 71 years, Irene; his children: Michael (Mary) Van Deraa of Appleton, WI; James (Susan) Van Deraa of Cape Coral, FL; Joseph (Barbara) Van Deraa of Kimberly, WI; Mary (Nick) Heimmermann of Neenah, WI; Jeffrey Van Deraa of Indiana; and Kevin Van Deraa of Kimberly, WI; his 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Harvey is further survived by his siblings: Lawrence Van Deraa, Ronald (Beth) Van Deraa and Geraldine Welch; and his siblings-in-law: Kathleen Van Deraa, Marlene Green, Judy (Don) Shaw and Gerald (Bridget) Vander Loop; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by his siblings: Evangeline (Ralph) Vanevenhoven, Marvin Van Deraa, Eleanor (Richard) Walker and Gerald Van Deraa; and his siblings-in-law: Ruth Adams, Ernest (Terese) Kemps, LaVerne Vander Loop, Lucille (Marvin) Kempen and Charles Green.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH – KIMBERLY CHURCH (600 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Carl Schmitt officiating and the Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen concelebrating. Military Honors will immediately follow, conducted by the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319 and American Legion Post 41 with committal at Holy Name of Jesus Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at The Landings in Kaukauna for their excellent and compassionate care of Harvey.
