Harriet A. Hurlbutt, age 91, died peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, May 29, 2026. Harriet was born in Rhinelander on July 29, 1934, to the late Floyd Sr. and Lula (Tupper) Boote. After her high school graduation Harriet married the love of her life, Robert Hurlbutt, on October 12, 1954. Together, they spent 38 years raising their five children before his passing in the spring of 1993.

When she wasn’t caring for her family, Harriet could usually be found working on one project or another. When the weather allowed, she could often be found working in the yard and tending to her flowers. Harriet had a strong faith in God and it was reflected in the way she lived her life. She sang in the church choir for many years and was a talented artist, happiest with a paintbrush in hand. While watercolor portraits were her favorite, there wasn't much she wouldn't paint. In fact, there wasn't a surface in the house that was entirely safe from her next project. She also enjoyed playing the piano and singing to family when they were together, making many happy memories. Harriet also enjoyed knitting, creating countless scrubs and towels for family and friends. Having lived through the Great Depression, she learned early on how to make the most of what she had and carried that resourcefulness with her throughout life. Her family will always smile when they remember her ability to stretch a dollar and save her pennies.

Harriet is survived by her five children, 19 grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, along with her two brothers. Harriet is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Harriet is preceded in death by her husband, Robert.

A private family funeral was be held. Committal Union Cemetery, Kaukauna.
