Obituary

Harold J. "Harry" Winius, Kimberly, age 84, died unexpectedly following open heart surgery, Thursday August 18, 2011 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born in Little Chute to the late Henry and Bertha (Driessen) Winius on January 9, 1927. Harry married Isabel "Isie" Vanden Heuvel on July 24, 1948 at St. Therese Parish in Appleton. He was a World War II Army veteran and a 65 year member of the William Verhagen American Legion Post 60. Harry retired from Kimberly Clark and RePap as a machine room foreman after 42 years of service. He enjoyed his volunteer work with St. Vincent De Paul every Monday with Howie and Doc. Harry also volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America as Kimberly's Troop 44 Scoutmaster for 12 years and Thousand Islands Environmental Center where he was a charter member. He loved to fish and golf and treasured time spent at the cottage on Lake Noquebay.

Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Isabel; children: Michael (Karen), Darboy; Steve (special friend Diane Brickler), Muskego; Patty (John) Renquist, Salem, OR; and Mary (Kevin) Hawley, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Michael (Traci) Winius, Michelle (Jason) Sagorac, Kara (Jim) Nikodem, Rachel, Alison and John Winius, Brett Renquist, Elly, Erin and Rebecca Paulson; great grandchildren: Mitchell, Kellen, Jacob, Lauryn, Rya and Landen; sisters: Ann Dercks, Martha Haupt, Harriet Masch and Alice Hermus; brothers: Joseph (friend Terry), Lester (Pat) and Henry (Claire) Winius; and brothers and sister-in-law: Lucy (Ken) Lang and Don Vanden Heuvel. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his brothers: Ray, William and Albert Winius; sisters: Agnes Sporakowski and Alma Dorschner; and sisters and brother-in-law: Pearle and Elaine Winius and Joyce (John) Meyer.

Visitation will be held Tuesday August 23, 2011 at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St. Combined Locks) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Robert Vandenberg will officiate. Full military rites conducted by the William Verhagen American Legion Post 60 will immediately follow. Committal Holy Name Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
