Obituary

Gordon F. Gehrman, Kimberly, age 84, died Thursday February 23, 2012 at Cherry Meadows. He was born in Appleton on April 18, 1927 to the late Max Sr. and Amelia (Spreeman) Gehrman.

As a child, Gordon and his father spent many hours fishing on Lake Butte des Mortes. Sharing that hobby and closeness with his dad were things he would treasure his entire life.

Gordon enlisted into the Army during World War II and served in Iceland. Upon his return, he was welcomed into the home of his brother Clarence and his wife Evelyn. It was then that he started his employment at Kimberly Clark (Midtec). He worked there for 42 years.

Gordon married Dorothy Wachtendonk at Holy Name Church on June 18, 1949. Upon his retirement, Gordon's hobbies included golfing (achieving a hole in one), travelling and reading. He loved to go "up north" with family and friends.

Gordon is survived by his wife Dorothy (Wachtendonk); son Guy (Sandy Weyers) Gehrman, Stevens Point; daughter Janet (David) Evansen, Appleton; and three grandchildren: Michael Evansen, Amanda (fiance Kyle Retzki) Gehrman and Gordon Gehrman II. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Clarence (Evelyn), Max (Sally) and Herman (Hester) Gehrman, Agnes (Norman) Kneip, Julia (Robert) Haskinson, Mary (Leo) Swinford and Helen (Frank) Hanselman.

Our sadness and heartbreak is immeasurable as we all say goodbye to a very special man we were so blessed to call husband, dad and grandfather. The wonderful, fun-filled years we have all spent together will forever remain in our hearts and memories. Gordon, you will be deeply missed.
