Obituary

Gina M. Bogenschutz, Neenah, age 36, died Saturday, April 24, 2021 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.  She was born in Appleton on July 16, 1984, the daughter of Steven Bogenschutz and Bette (Dollevoet) Novitske.  Gina enjoyed camping, fishing, outdoor sports, and loved spending time with family and friends. Those who knew her will remember her quick wit, contagious laugh and engaging personality. Most importantly, she treasured her daughter, Sophia. Gina always took what life threw at her head on, usually after saying "you have got to be flippen kidding me." She loved her independence and felt she could handle any and everything, including working her way through college, graduating with honors in accounting, on the road to establishing a successful career and buying her own house. She always accepted full responsibility for her life and never blamed anyone else for the challenges that life presented her. Even though in the end as she was losing her battle with her own illness she still unselfishly gave the ultimate gift of multiple donations to bring life and hope to others. We could not be more proud of you. Love you always. Time to spread your wings and fly.

Gina is survived by her daughter, Sophia; fiancé Alex Demerath; parents:  Steven (Jeanne) Bogenschutz and Bette (Dale Kain) Novitske; brothers:  Ryan (Katie) and James (Amanda Kaminsky) Milske; and nephews and niece:  Max, Leah, and Jackson; step brother and sister: Rob and Cara (Layne); along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

We would also like to express a sincere thank you to the entire ICU staff at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah and the team from UW Organ and Tissue Donation for your care, professionalism, and incredible compassion and kindness not only for Gina but for her family as well. You are truly extraordinary.

Gina's immediate family will gather for a private service at O'Connell Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established for her daughter Sophia. Donations may be sent to O'Connell Funeral Home or any of Gina's family members.
