Gerard Derks, Seymour, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 5, 2026, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton. He was born in Appleton on November 18, 1963, to the late William and Mary (Lauer) Derks. Ger grew up camping and fishing at White Clay Lake with his family.

Ger’s love was raising finches and canaries. We joked that he had rain man type knowledge with it came to his birds. When he passed, he had seven canaries that sang beautifully.

Ger is survived by his siblings: Mary (Pat) Rausch, Joseph (Sandy) Derks, Patty McGee, Linda (Mike) Nieuwenhuis, Judy Derks (Karl Blazer), Barbara (Richard) Parker, Allen (Kristina) Derks, and Ann (Reed) Vander Bloemen; and close friends: Bill, Jesse, and Jackie. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Gerry was preceded in death by his infant sister, Annie Derks; and brother-in-law, Martin McGee.

A private family service was held.
