Geraldine E. "Gerry" Smits, Appleton, age 75, died Thursday March 10, 2011 at her home. She was born July 30, 1935 in Shawano to the late Ralph and Rose (Vieau) Seidlitz. Geraldine married Clarence Smits at St. Willebrord Parish in Green Bay on June 29, 1957. Gerry enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her 3 great granddaughters. In prior years, she liked to crochet and make her own greeting cards, or "stampin" as she referred to it. She and Clarence also enjoyed playing Cribbage.

Geraldine is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Clarence; children: Julie (Wayne) Gloudemans, Appleton; Steven Smits, Omro; and Kathy (Dan) Geenen, Kaukauna; grandchildren: Craig (Kim) and Curt Gloudemans, Amanda and Marie Smits, Katie (Ben) Schreiber, Ellie and Tony Geenen; great granddaughters Claire and Kendra Gloudemans and Grace Schreiber; sisters and brother: Dorothy Koeller, Marjorie Weeks, Lorraine (Paul) Kriescher and Leonard (Evelyn) Rambo; brother-in-law: Gerald (Mary) Smits.

In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Rose; grandson Alex Geenen; brothers and sister: Ralph Jr. and Roy Seidlitz, Patsy Hagen and Lestor Rambo; brothers-in-law: Alvin Koeller, Lloyd (Marcella) Wegner, Hugh Weeks, Joe (Rita) Reid and Margaret Smits.

Visitation will be held Tuesday March 15, 2011 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 12:30 p.m. until time of Mass at 3:00 p.m. The Rev. Lawrence Canavera will officiate. Committal St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
