Gerald A. Vander Loop, age 92, entered into eternal life with our Lord on July 20, 2023. He was born in the Town of Vandenbroek to Henry and Ella (Vanden Heuvel) Vander Loop. He married LaVerne Kemps at Holy Name Catholic Church on March 31, 1951, and together they raised seven children. LaVerne preceded him in death on February 19, 1994. On July 29, 1995, Jerry was united in marriage to Brigitte Lohr.

Jerry served in the United States Army, training soldiers on the 90mm anti-aircraft gun. After his discharge, he worked tirelessly at Kimberly-Clark until his retirement in 1989. Jerry volunteered for many years at veterans' funerals, folding the flag for Military Honors Ceremonies, and was a proud participant of the Old Glory Honor Flight in 2015. Jerry's hobbies included golfing, bowling, baseball, reading, Country and Gospel music, and woodworking.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Brigitte; his children: Linda (Mark) Ristau, Daniel (Bobbie) Vander Loop, Gail (Jim) Better, Glenn (Sheila) Vander Loop, Susan (Richard) McMorrow, Carol (Carl) Van Lankvelt, and Lori (Jesse) Rose; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and Brigitte's two children. He is further survived by his three brothers: Ken (Mary) Vander Loop, Roger (Delores) Vander Loop, and Lee (Shirley) Vander Loop; his sisters-in-law: Irene Van Deraa, Marlene Green, and Judy (Don) Shaw; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his first wife, LaVerne; his parents, Henry and Ella Vander Loop; his infant brother, Lee Vander Loop; nephew Chad Vander Loop; along with numerous siblings-in-law.

A private funeral service with Military Honors, conducted by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, will be held.
