Gerald "Jerry" Joseph Haupt, of Brillion, formerly of Sheboygan, age 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at St. Paul Elder Services in Kaukauna. Jerry was born September 24, 1944 in Stephansville, WI, son of the late William "Bill" and Edith (Main) Haupt. Jerry grew up in Kaukauna and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1963. After high school, Jerry proudly served in the US Army from 1963-1966, stationed primarily in Germany. After his honorable discharge, Jerry married Joan Gerhartz and brought his only child into the world.
Jerry worked at Thilmany's for a short time before moving to Sheboygan and taking a job with the Kohler Company, where he worked until his retirement.
Throughout his life, Jerry's favorite pastime was spending time at the family cottage in Pembine, fishing with is buddies wherever he could, eating at favorite places, enjoying time with his sister and her family and watching his grandchildren grow up. His hobbies included model railroading, cooking, hunting, fishing, making beer and watching TV. He loved to spend time with his family, eating a good steak and having a cocktail.
Jerry is survived by his daughter: Michele (Todd) Brehmer of Potter; grandchildren: Aric, Riegen and Thane Brehmer; sister: Barb (Mike) Knott of Kaukauna; and nieces: Mary (Greg) Fox of Kaukauna; Melissa (Donny) Hearn of Green Bay; and Melanie Knott and special friend Kristen of Kaukauna; great nieces and nephews: Bret, Cody and Claire Fox, Zoey and Kiley Hearn. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Haupt.
Visitation will be held Saturday January 16, 2016 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St. Little Chute) beginning at 11:00 a.m. until time of Funeral at 2:00 p.m. Deacon George Schraufnagel will officiate. Military rites will immediately follow. Committal will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Kaukauna at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
