Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Gary Michael Holcomb on February 2nd, 2026, at Theda Clark Regional Medical Center, Appleton, WI. A heart attack took him from us too soon at the age of 68.

Gary was born on October 16th, 1957, to Richard and Katherine Holcomb in Appleton, WI. After completing high school, he served his country in the Army for 4 years. He started working at Plexus Corporation shortly after as an electronic technician. Shortly after, he met his bride Lynn Hagglund in 1981, and they wed in August of 1983. They had 42 happy years together, having so much in common, and embracing life's beauty and challenges. They have 3 wonderful children, Carly, Cory (Katie), and Courtney (Estin). Gary loved his 6 grandchildren so much! He was very active in their lives: Macy (15), Lauren (13), Morgan (10), Ezra (9), Hazel (6), and Anneli (4).

Gary became a proud Lutheran and was confirmed at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Combined Locks in 1982. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Neenah after moving there. He did multiple mission trips, including 3 times to Haiti, South Dakota, and inner-city Chicago.

After retirement from Ducommun in Appleton, March of 2020, he found joy in being the custodian at our new church Bethany Lutheran in Kaukauna, serving on properties committee, and all-around handy helper to everyone. He also volunteered at Feeding America since retirement. He was an avid league bowler for years, loved to fix and troubleshoot things, gardening and landscaping, BBQ master (charcoal only), and made the best omelets.

Besides his children and grandchildren, he is survived by his wife Lynn; five sisters:  Gail Barten, Terri Aman, Lisa Helm, Kim (Kevin) Lysne, and Kerry Jo Holcomb; and lots of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; Lynn's parents, Elmer and Maj-lis Hagglund; brother, Joseph (as an infant); and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 9, 2026, at BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH (124 West 10th Street, Kaukauna) from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.  His Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Rod Krueger officiating. Military Honors will follow.  Committal Highland Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.

Gary, you have made me feel so safe and loved. I will always have a missing piece, a hole in my heart. Can't wait to meet again in Heaven. - Lynn
