Frederick E. Zimmer, Grand Chute, age 83, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 13, 2019.  He was born in Appleton on August 3, 1936 to the late Jacob and Edith (Schwalen) Zimmer.  Fred married Patricia Van Wychen on August 31, 1976.  Together, he and Pat enjoyed time spent at the cottage at Crooked Lake.  Later, they camped at Pine Grove and Fawn Lake.  Fred kept his mind sharp with puzzles and Sudoku and he relished in a good political discussion.

Fred is survived by his wife, Pat; his dogs who were his pride and joy, Buddy and Willy; children:  Julie (Glen) Bambusch, Kevin (Lori) Zimmer, Gwen (Ronald) Voelker, Karen (Greg) Newling, and Ann Larsen; step children:  Dan (Ann) Wynboom and Kathi (Randy) Sanders; grandchildren:  Nichole (Nick) Verhagen, Mary (Matt) Shudy, Michelle (Chris) Maertz, Kyle (Mallory) Zimmer, Grayson (Casey) Bambusch, Michelle (Andy) Francart, Aaron Newling, Emily Larsen, Mariah Larsen, Charles Voelker, Andrew and Danielle Wynboom, Chris (fiancée Megan Mueller) Verbeten, Kayla (Jeff) Hooper, Nathan (Sara) Sanders, Brian (Rachel) Sanders, and Amanda (Lon) Ellingsen; 11 great grandchildren; siblings:  Carol (Steve Reed) Zimmer and Dan (Teresa) Zimmer; and sisters-in-law:  Dotty Zimmer, Luanne (Tim) Brinkman, Mary Pat Van Wychen, and Joyce Van Wychen.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Norbert and Eileen Van Wychen; sister, Rita (Richard) Gruentzel; brothers:  Francis (Beverly), Edward, James/Fr. Ellis, and Paul (Patricia) Zimmer; and brother-in-law, Tom Van Wychen.

In accordance with his wishes, a private family service was held.
