Obituary

Fran Seidl, Combined Locks, age 71 died Friday September 10, 2010 at Theda Clark Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born in Appleton to the late Frank C. and Catherine (Vosters) Seidl. Faith and family were a big part of Fran's life. He was a 1957 graduate of Appleton High School and served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957-1965. On April 4, 1961 he married Nancy Vander Velden at Holy Name Parish in Kimberly. After 44 years of service, Fran retired from Riverside Paper Corp. where he proudly followed in his dad's footsteps as Head Fireman in the Boiler Room. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul Parish and a retiree of the Combined Locks Volunteer Fire Department. Fran had a special interest and hobby in gardening, taking pride in growing many flower and vegetable plants. He was also an avid NASCAR fan, always rooting for #24. Fran enjoyed all types of fishing, especially the many trips to Canada, Minnesota and North Dakota.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy; children: Gail (Dan) Schultz, Darboy; Jeff (Barb) Seidl, Menomonee Falls; Sue (Jeff) Smith, Winneconne; and Steve (Kelly) Seidl, Brea, CA; grandchildren: Aaron (Monica), Alyssa, Andrew and Alec Schultz, Tony, Taylor and Sam Seidl, Amanda and Cassie Mielke, Lauren, Ben and Ryan Seidl; sisters and brother: Ann (Bob) Arndt, Dave (Cathie) Seidl and Kris (Bruce) Carew; and sister and brother-in-law: Pat (Gene) Gloudemans and Jim Vander Velden. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Fran was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Cleborne and Margaret Vander Velden; and sister-in-law, Judy Vander Velden.

Visitation will be held Tuesday September 14, 2010 at ST. PAUL PARISH (410 Wallace St. Combined Locks) beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 12:00 noon. The Rev. James Lucas will officiate with the Rev. Robert Vandenberg concelebrating. Committal St. Paul Cemetery. A memorial in Fran's name is being established by the family.
