Obituary

Theodore "Ted" Niehaus, OFM Cap., 75, a native of Sauk Centre, MN died in Kaukauna, November 19, 2014. Capuchin Friar Theodore was invested as a friar 1957, perpetually professed 1961 and ordained 1965. He served in the Mission field of Nicaragua for 46 years. He returned to the US earlier this year for health considerations. Father Ted was committed to and appreciated walking with the people of Nicaragua, bringing the Gospel to them. His calling to Missions was a joy that energized him and all those around.

He is survived by sisters: Marian Moening and Toni Wiener of Sauk Centre; Eileen "Chuckie" Niehaus of Maple Grove; Lucy Marthaler of Osakis; brothers: Joseph of Osakis and Virgil of Sauk Centre; and the friars of the Capuchin Province of St. Joseph, with whom he lived, prayed and ministered. Father Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Lucine (nee Wiener) and Joseph.

Visitation will be Friday, November 21, 2014 at ST. LAWRENCE SEMINARY CHAPEL (301 Church St., Mt. Calvary) beginning at 3:00 p.m., followed by a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at ST. LAWRENCE SEMINARY CHAPEL Saturday November 22, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon to follow the liturgy. Burial will take place in the Capuchin Friar Cemetery, Mt. Calvary, at a later date.
