Obituary

Floyd VanDenEng, age 88, Appleton, went home to be with the Lord on March 25, 2025, at home surrounded by family. Floyd was born July 16, 1936 in Freedom to the late Peter and Elizabeth (Brooks) VanDenEng. Floyd was united in marriage to Joan Lemmen on May 20, 1961.  Floyd worked his entire life at Thilmany Pulp & Paper Co. as a millwright for 44 years.  He served 3 years in the Army National Guard.

Floyd's story is deeply interwoven in Apostolic Truth Church's history. Apostolic Truth Church held its first service in Floyd and Joan's basement in 1982. As an active member of ATC, Floyd helped with the food pantry, served as an usher, and went on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic to help build a church. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, playing cards and cribbage. Floyd was the master of repurposing anything! One man's trash was Floyd's treasure. He had many great adventures up north at Legend Lake to the mountains in Alaska with his children and grandchildren.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Joan.  Children: Mary Jo (Kevin) Dempsey, Michael VanDenEng, Todd VanDenEng, Jill (Steve) Verkuilen, and Vicky Kahl. Eight grandchildren: Marisa (Marty) O'Donnell, Andrew (Jenna) Dempsey, Kaylin Dempsey, Brock Verkuilen, Amber Verkuilen, Hunter (Haley) Kahl, Aleyah Kahl, Morgan Kahl. Three great grandchildren: Cohen and Leighton O'Donnell, Kinnon Dempsey.  Siblings: Joy (Roy) VanDyke. Sister-in-law, Kenice VanDenEng.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Son-in-law, Michael Kahl; Siblings: Gladys (Lou) Fravel, Evelyn (Clarence) Gerrits, Eunice (Robert) VanDaalwyk, Eugene VanDenEng, Marvin (Bobbie) VanDenEng, Clarence VanDenEng, Ron (Elaine) VanDenEng, Herb Dombrowski; Father and mother-in-law, William and Geraldine Lemmen; Brother and sisters-in-law: Joseph (Helen) Lemmen and Rosie (Roger) Feldkamp.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, March 31, 2025 at APOSTOLIC TRUTH CHURCH (2720 Kesting Court, Appleton), with Pastor Aaron Soto officiating.  Visitation will take place at the church on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of service. Committal St. Nicholas Cemetery, Freedom.
