Obituary

Florence Koehn, age 98, passed away on May 18, 2022 at Helen's House assisted living, her home for the last 5 years. She was born September 14, 1923 to the late Peter C. and Anna (Molitor) VandenHeuvel. She was a graduate of St. John High School and a life-long resident of Little Chute.

She wed Roger Koehn on May 10, 1947 after he served in the US Army during World War II. He preceded her in death on March 10, 2003. She was a receptionist for many years at Doctors Gage & Knoedler in Kimberly. She enjoyed golfing as a member of Fox Valley Golf Club, traveling around the United States (especially Hawaii) and Canada, and swam regularly into her 80's. Summers the family would pack up the station wagon for a week vacation at a cottage up North.

She is survived by her four children: Steven (Cindy) Koehn, Verona WI; Rogene Verhagen, Brillion; Mark (Dan) Koehn, Madison; and Carole (Keith Nerenhausen) Koehn, Little Chute. Seven grandchildren: Leonard (Melinda) Joosten, Milwaukee; Jerry Verhagen, Black River Falls (who Florence delivered in the back of a Pinto on the way to the hospital); Chrissy Hamberg, Reedsville; Tim Verhagen, Minneapolis; Jesse Verhagen, Brillion; Anne Marie (Andrew) Courter, San Francisco; Elizabeth (Will) Nimmow, Verona. And 11 great-grandchildren: Aleah (Carl )Forsythe, Kenosha; Alex Joosten, Milwaukee; Jerry Jr and Avery Verhagen, Black River Falls; Madyline, Brianna and Jackson Hamberg, Reedsville; Addey and Ainsley Courter, San Francisco; Brody and Zoe Florence Nimmow, Verona. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Gerald Derus. She was prededed in death by her sister, Olive Derus, who passed away 6 days earlier on May 12, 2022, aunts and uncles, and many in-laws.

Private graveside service at St. John Cemetery in Little Chute and celebration of life will be held in late June for family.
