"Bette" Van Dyke

Elizabeth T. "Bette" Van Dyke, Center, age 86, died at her home, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. She was born in Kaukauna on August 3, 1934 to the late William and Therese (Hein) Brux. Bette married Kenneth Van Dyke on May 3, 1956 at St. Mary Parish in Kaukauna. She was proud to be the first lady bulk milk hauler in the business she and her husband ran together. Bette also worked at Riverside Florist and Simple Simon Bakery through the years. She enjoyed baking, gardening, knitting, and crocheting. She also had a great love for cats. Bette was a choir member at St. John Parish in Little Chute and volunteered at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center (AMC) in Appleton.
Bette is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth; children: Cynthia (Robert) Gooding, Little Chute and William (Jennifer) Van Dyke, Kimberly; grandchildren: Adam (Amber Wendel) and Matthew Gooding, Lance (Brittany) and Kaitlynn Van Dyke; great grandchildren: Chloe, Bailey, Keira, Felix, and Eleanor; and brother and sister-in-law: Clifford Van Dyke and Pat Brux. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Bette was preceded in death by her siblings: Harlan (Dorothy) Brux, Julia Schiedimeier, Ethel (Howard) Luniak, William (Mary) Brux Jr., Francis Brux, Rosemary (Romy) Berceua, and Roberta (Arlo) Ramthun; and sister-in-law, Linda (Tony) Schwister.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at 11:00 with the Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Committal Highland Memorial Park. For those not in attendance, you are welcome to join the family via live stream on the church website (stjn.org – click on the live stream tab at the top of the page).
