Obituary

Donald J. Vander Steen, Greenleaf, age 64, died Sunday December 2, 2012 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on April 22, 1948 to the late Frank and Helen Vander Steen in Green Bay. Following his graduation from Wrightstown High School, Don entered the Air Force in 1964. He served as a medic on the front lines in Vietnam. Don retired from the City of Green Bay as a building inspector in 2010. He thought highly of the many people he worked with at City Hall, Police and Fire Departments.

Don is survived by his siblings: Ronald (Frances) of Canada; Bernard (Nancy) of Kaukauna; Kenneth of Menasha; and Carol Van Eperen of Little Chute; and nieces and nephews: Bob, Ken (Sheila) and Mark (Terri) Vander Steen, Sharon (Wayne) Chernow, Karen (George) Demonakos, Lori (Steve) Andres, Gary (Bernetta), Bruce (Jeanne) and Brian (Karen) Van Eperen. He is further survived by many great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, including his faithful dog Hannah.

Visitation will be held Thursday December 6, 2012 at ST. CLARE PARISH – ST. PATRICK CHURCH (7815 Saint Pats Church Rd. Askeaton) beginning at 3:00 p.m. until time of funeral at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. Dennis Bergsbaken will officiate. Military rites conducted by the Urban Klister American Legion Post 436 will immediately follow. Committal St. Patrick Cemetery. A memorial is being established.
