Obituary

Donald O. Roehrborn, Little Chute, age 91, died at his home with his family at his side, on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.  He was born in Marshfield on September 7, 1929 to the late Walter and Emma (Witthuhn) Roehrborn.  Don married Ila Van Asten in 1951.  She preceded him in death in 1995.  Don was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319.  He retired from Thilmany Pulp and Paper after over 30 years as a cost accountant and maintenance planner.  Don enjoyed camping and traveling with his special friend and companion, the late Sally Halbech and his beloved dog Sophie.  He was an advocate for the Community Blood Bank not only being a blood donor but a proud volunteer for over 12 years.  Don loved telling jokes and one-liners and could always be counted on for his positive attitude and love of life.

Don is survived by his children:  Donna (Alfred) Lom, Freedom; Sherri (Bruce) Brunner, Appleton; Vicki (Scott) Tellen, Appleton; Margo (Doug) Hietpas, Freedom; Kurt (Marie) Roehrborn, Dundas; Tanya Haring, Conover; Maureen (Victor) Tepiew, Eleva; Pauline Silas, Green Bay; Marci (Jeff) Newhouse, Kaukauna; and Kelli Roehrborn, Little Chute; 33 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; and brothers and sisters-in-law:  Donna, Irene, Art (Jan) and Gene (Marge) Van Asten, Marge Belongea, and Gene Diedrich.  He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Ila; son, Terry; grandchildren:  Ryan Lom and Shawnie Silas; siblings:  Virginia (Ed) Saeger, Milford (Lilas) Roehrborn, Gary (Mary Beth) Roehrborn, and Audrey (Robert) Van Heesywk; and brothers and sisters-in-law:  Robert (Pat) Van Asten, Mildred (Bob) Bachmann, Marion (Lawrence) DuFrane, Lillian (Ed) Van Heuklon, Carl Van Asten, Rita Van Asten, Floyd Van Asten, Ed Belongea, and Carol Diedrich.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 6, 2021 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main Street, Little Chute) beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral at 12 Noon with the Rev. Lynn Martin officiating.  Military honors, conducted by the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319 and American Legion Post 41, will immediately follow.

The family of Don Roehrborn would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the compassionate Hospice Team for the wonderful care given to our Dad, especially Amber and Ida who he always looked forward to seeing.
