Obituary

Born to Ray and Alice Maas in January 1952, and passed away October 2026, Diane's 52 year journey with her husband and soulmate, Gary, was put on pause until they are to be reunited again.

Diane was blessed with great artistic talent which she utilized as a graphic artist at Jansport, creating designs for printed sportswear. Not only could her creations be seen on college campuses across the country, but with her son Andy's sports teams and band. She had immense gratitude for Kim VanderHeiden and Paul Delory for giving her the opportunity for her 35 years of service. She cherished the many years of friendships she developed with co-workers.

As an avocation, Diane spent many years alongside Gary as vocalist for the classic country band Bushwack, entertaining a loyal following at weddings, fireman's picnics and other venues across the state. Diane was a huge part of their success.

Diane was also a selfless, family first, wife, mother and homemaker. She was a master in the kitchen, preparing amazing family meals and baked goods. The specialty meals for holidays, birthdays and other occasions were out of this world. Her lasagna and desserts were everyone's favorite. She was always ready to try new recipes.

Diane loved the outdoors. She and Gary spent many hours on Lake Poygan, in the boat and on the ice. She loved weekends at the cabin on the north branch of the Oconto River, near Suring. The most memorable adventures occured when family members joined them. She made so many special cabin memories with her grandchildren, Mac and Anna, as they were growing up.

When cooped up inside, Diane was an avid reader and a big fan of Turner Classic Movies. She also loved following the Packers and Brewers. Diane also loved following Mac and Anna's sports exploits throughout the years.

Diane and Gary cherished their many trips to Utah, to visit Matt, Jen, Lauren, and Kenzie; enjoying many adventures among the mountains, along with family events.

Diane enjoyed regular lunch dates and get-togethers with friends Laurie Kussart, the Koski girls, and many others.

Diane was mother to Andy (Sarah) Strand and grandmother to their children Mac and Anna; mother to Matt (Jen) Shebilske and grandmother to their children Lauren (Johnny) Verberg and Kenzie Shebilske, and great-grandmother to Leo, June and Emery.

Diane's Maas siblings are Dick (Jean), Donna (Henry), Joe, Steve (Carolyn), and Peter (Julie). She is a sister-in-law to Gary's siblings Wayne (Joan), Sheila (Dennis dec.), Steve (dec.), Kevin (Tina), Mark (dec.), and Mike (dec.) (Lori).

She is survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins as well as aunts and uncles.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents Ray (Judy) Maas and Alice (John) Reed, her parents-in-law Larry and Eileen Shebilske, and was forever broken-hearted over the passing of son, Matt Shebilske.

Diane will be remembered for her heart of gold, sense of humor, and putting the needs of others first. She was loving, compassionate, caring and lived her life with dignity and grace. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Shannon Schmidt and her team for the care given to Diane.

Per Diane's wishes, there will not be a service. A celebration of life will be observed at a later date.

Diane would like us to remind everyone to always give generously to food pantries and charities of choice.
