Obituary

Dennis "Denny" William VanderVelden, Little Chute, age 85, passed away at his home Thursday September 29, 2022. He was born in Little Chute on December 8, 1936 to the late George T. and Agnes A. (Williamson) VanderVelden. Dennis married Gail A. Whitcomb on December 16, 1977. He worked at and retired from Thilmany Pulp and Paper. He also served his country in the Armed Forces of the United States as a Marksman. Dennis liked to play cribbage, play cards in general, watch the Price is Right every morning, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He loved to spend time at his trailer at Geano Beach where he loved to fish and on Labor Day weekend every year he had his famous boiled dinner, where he had spent time with his friends and family. He also loved to hang at the bars in Little Chute. He was a big-hearted, kind, and well known person by all. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dennis is survived by his spouse: Gail A. (Whitcomb) VanderVelden, Little Chute; his children: Steve (Sue) VanderVelden, Little Chute; Allan VanderVelden, Appleton; Ed (Annie) VanderVelden, Kaukauna; Mary Kunstman, Appleton; his grandchildren: Thom (partner Diane) VanderVelden, Tanya (Brock) Joosten, Tyler VanderVelden, JoAnn Kunstman, Emily (Fiancé Steven Schemm) Kunstman, Ben (Alexis) Kunstman, Ashley VanderVelden, Kyle (Talia) VanderVelden and Tony (Cassandra) VanderVelden; his great grandchildren: Ethan, Elizabeth, Makenna, Carter, Harper, Marley, Oliver, Hailey, Ellie, Claira and was looking forward to the births of his newest great granddaughter in January and great grandson in February; his daughter-in-law: Patty VanderVelden; his son-in-law: Joe Kunstman; his sister and brother-in-law: Joyce (Al) Dieda; his brothers-in-law: Dean Walker, Curt (Monique) Whitcomb, Glenn (former spouse Marie) Whitcomb; his sister-in-law: Karen (Randy) Wettstein; his friend: Mike Moderson. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, in-laws, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his infant son: Thomas; his first wife: Monica T. (Bushman) VanderVelden; his brother and sister-in-law: Marvin (Margaret) VanderVelden; his sister: Carol Walker; his brother-in-law: Lawrence Geiger; his sister-in-law: Regina Joosten; his mother-in-law: Doris H. Whitcomb, and many other relatives, in-laws and friends.

A private family burial will take place at St. John Cemetery, Little Chute.
